“Two Kinds” Poll of the Week 4
Posted by TomFulery under Two Kinds...

Enjoy the poll. Arguments for each side are presented below… in haiku as always.
“Lame 70s Crap” argument haiku:
I have seen this film.
A silly girl with fake puke.
A comedy, no?
“Scariest Shit Ever” argument haiku:
A nice slow buildup.
The split-second Pazuzu..
A night-light? Yes please.

Of the two choices given for the labeling of The Exorcist, I chose “lame 70s crap” because the movie, to me, was fairly lame and crappy (though not without its bright spots). I wanted to take issue, though, with the “70s” part: you imply that Lameness and Crap are typical of that decade. With respect to horror movies, nothing could be further from the truth. This was the decade that birthed The Omen, Halloween, Don’t Look Now, and Salem’s Lot; as well, The Shining and The Changeling both came out in 1980 so were probably largely conceived/filmed in 1979.
